History

La Bastide du Roy Rene was constructed in 1472 (before America was discovered !) by King Rene d’Anjou and his wife Queen Jeanne de Laval as their country home.

La Bastide — Transformed through the ages into an infirmary, an agricultural warehouse, a tannery... La Bastide found its true calling in the 1990’s becoming an exceptional hotel residence.

Le Roy René — In love with the arts, Roy René was one of the most important, most curious and original patrons of the late Middle Ages. A man of great culture, a fine scholar, he spoke several languages, was passionate about the East and the sciences. He supported the irrigation works in the Luberon and the Durance plain.
